Art Crimes dot Gay Code of Conduct === ## A limited federation invite-only glitchsoc instance, focusing on the safety and comfort of Black and Indigenous folks. This space is anti-oppression, anti-colonialism, anti-genocide, and anti-racist, and is run by a disabled and autistic Indigequeer. We are a community of folks of all kinds. Community members and our mods are here to create a flourishing community especially for Global Majority folks. We are very particular and are not interested in growth *at all*, so we won't accept every one. Sorry! ## Articles * Describe images you post if you at all can, and if you can't, content warn it and/or use the hashtags #alt4you or #alt4me (just try your best! alt text does not need to be perfect) * Use content warnings generously in a way that is healthy for yourself * Act in good faith (this covers things like assuming competence, not harrassing others, not forcing unwelcome sexual behavior on others, not being ableist, not being cisnormative, not using this CoC in bad faith, and so on.) * related, use words and hashtags that can be easily filtered, and do not replace letters with punctuation or use only "funny" replacements for a name or website so that they can still be caught by filters * Expect that others on this instance are acting in good faith * White tears have no place here. * Art Crimes will not allow this Code of Conduct to be weaponized. ## Safety and Security of our Community Our goal is to provide a safe and supportive environment for our community members. In aid of fostering strong community bonds, we recognize how historical and modern day structures affect people's lives. We will not tolerate anything like bigotry, hegemonic violence, hate groups, or fascism, free speech absolutism, nor related symbols or apologia or "jokes". This includes folks making "jokes" or being sarcastic outside of their lane. White comfort is the antithesis of our priorities. White folks, please be mindful of what you are boosting and who you are following so that our federated feed is safe for folks to look at! For example: is something content warned appropriately?, is the white hot take actually yknow any good?, and so on.) Do not discuss any actual so-called criminal acts here or anywhere else on the Internet, not even in a "private" chat. No *actionable* threats against named persons. Do not post anything that would be illegal in Germany, where artcrimes.gay is physically hosted at the moment. No scraping, copying, archiving, or studies may be done on this instance or the people posting from here without permission from the folks directly involved (i.e. the poster(s) themselves, the admins of the instance(s), and so on.). ## Content Warnings Add content warnings (using the content warning field) as appropriate. It's ok if you're not sure what if any cw need to be added. If a friend or local artcrim asks you to add a particular content warning, be open to that. If you want to ask someone to add a particular content warning, do keep in mind the power disparity that may be between you, and just that people vary a whole lot about how ok they are with that or not. Non-exhaustive lists of things we'd like you to content warn here: meatspace violence, local or national politics, bodily functions, common phobias, food including photos of food, horny posts, and nudity. These are strong suggestions but not requirements, because afterall we all need different things! Hashtags can help bridge the gap because they can be filtered. However, please do not mark things as "NSFW" because sex work is absolutely work and lots of workspaces vary on what counts as "safe". And its totally fine here to think of content warnings as email subject lines! **Example 1:** this horror movie *title here* was garbage cw: mention of gore, homophobia **Example 2:** food, positive! **Example 3:** Portraits I done took, lots of eye contact **Example 4:** nudies! **Example 5:** Ridiculous thoughts I thunk while staring at clouds. PoC do not have to content warn for discussions of racism and related subjects if they don't want to. White-privileged people do have to content warn for discussions of racism and related subjects. (White folks, please also take a moment to think about if we really need your take on such things.) ## Stay in Your Lane Few of us live single-issue lives. Who we are and our various identities are not separated within us. We are full people, after all. Many reasons may make it so you feel like you need to comment on a situation that is outside of your lane. It can be in ignorance yet good faith, it can be because after all are we not all human? Nonetheless, we all need to keep in mind systemic oppressions and the privileges we have individually, particularly if we've never been without those privileges. Keep in mind power disparities and privileges and -isms. Things like colorism, being housed, being allistic, saneism, and so many things. **Examples:** * If you're a white-privileged person, it's not for you to decide how a Black and brown folks should conduct themselves. * If you're not actually autistic, even if you're otherwise neurodivergent and may even be the parent of an autistic child, it's not ok to talk over actual autistic experiences. Should you, the marginalized person, be talked over, you can reply to the person explaining or just send a report in. If things get out of hand to any level you're not comfortable with, please report the post and if you can, explain the situation to us mods. If you talk over someone, they (or others) will likely explain this to you, or our local mods will. Please be open to listening so our community (including you) can grow in strength. Defensiveness here will earn you a silence if not more. If you don't have skin in the game and you are the more privileged person, maybe just be quiet. ## Note to Fellow ArtCrims We need your help, artcrims, for us to be community facilitators. Don't be afraid of fucking up. We want you here! We will all work together to make this a warm and validating environment. We rely on community support and mediation to resolve any issues/conflicts. You can report posts and people. You may put as much or little info in your report as you are comfortable with, including the actions you'd like to see taken. Because we are limited federation, we hope you feel comfortable forwarding your report as well to the remote server. We do like to discuss certain decisions with artCriminals, such as new instance to federate with, defederation, limiting an account, setting an account's media to sensitive, etc. However, you don't need to feel like you need to back-seat mod! We're here for you; please contact us for anything you need or want. You can DM @vivida for any problems or comments. Note that @wolf is our only mod atm and they are in the Pacific time zone and are chronically ill, so they may take hours or days to get back to you. (If it has been over a week, completely feel free to ping us again.) In order to maintain our community, moderators reserve the right to remove any content and any user account and to limit or suspend any remote account for any reason at any time. We want to work with you! ## About This Document This Code of Conduct is a work in progress! @vivida will make a local-only post for when any changes are made if/when there is an update. Note we only have one mod at the moment but sometimes we do write moderators (plural) anyway. Other People of Color who want to use some or all of this CoC, feel free! Credit would be cool but isn't required. It'd be cool to know if you do, I'd love to know about your project and changes you've made to your CoC. ## Extra Privacy Policy Info The privacy policy is the stock one that comes with glitch, so here is a bit of additional info. We only retain data that we absolutely need to log you in and let you post and such, and whatever you provide as part of your use of the site. We will not retain anything if you delete your account, other than stray things such as if you filed a report, the internal moderation page will show your username crossed out. We don't control other servers so we can't control or even know if they're not doing iffy shit, whether they mean to or not. We do not allow scraping or archiving, however we have little power to stop such things. Remember, this is the internet. Nothing is private really.
